Break so far

I spent the first few days of my break bumming around the apartment in NC. This is what I considered my real break where I wouldnt really have to do anything for at least a few days. I didn't know how right I was.

Coming to TN was fun. From Ashville, NC all the way up until I got here, if I wasn't in a city (of which there consists Ashville, Knoxville, and Nashville) it was snowing. Definately not so much fun to drive about 5 hours in very snowy conditions with people who get afraid when they see snow falling from the sky, let alone accumulating on the side of the road. But it had to be done.

The reason it had to be done was that my mother was in the hospital. I got a call the day I was planning on coming here from someone at church saying my mom had to go to the hospital on Sunday morning because she was sick. No one really knew what was wrong. When I got here Sunday night, she was still in the hospital so I get to look after the animals and this huge house by myself. Monday wasn't too much better. Apart from getting called every 10-15 minutes by people I don't know, my mom was still in the hospital and there still wasn't any word as to what was wrong. Eventually, my mom called to let me know that the doctors said she could come home because I was here if something happened. So I got to drive around at night and find Vanderbilt and the hospital. Luckily it wasn't too far away (about 3 miles. . .ah the advantage of being in a city). I picked up my mom and she seemed to be doing better. Even now she's still not totally better but hopefully by the time we have to drive to PA in 2-3 days from now she'll be good to go. She usually doesn't get sick so this was really weird.

Apart from my mom not being at 100%, TN has been uneventful. Just been sitting around the house all day, watching tv or playing computer games. And totally not feeling like home (apt in NC or PA). I don't really know why but I don't really feel comfortable here. Maybe its because I've never lived in a city. . .maybe its because I've been here for probably about 7 days since my mom moved here. . .maybe its because I don't know ANYONE in Nashville. . .but I am totally not adjusting to 1024 Noelton Ave. I can't wait until we go to PA. The fact that its going to be a 13-14 hour drive almost doesnt matter to me as long as I'm not in TN and going somewhere I'm more comfortable and may get to see people I'm comfortable with.

I'll try to update one more time before we go to PA. Let's hope the weather on rt. 81 will cooperate with us on Christmas Eve into Christmas morning. Long night drive isn't going to be very fun.
